Our Infrastructure...

Internet Domain Services has carefully selected some of the most well connected, robust, high capacity, network infrastructures and datacenters in the world on which to build it's products and services.

The network map above shows a high level view of our points of presence. Physical connectivity and capacity is based on the networks of our providers, as well as very importantly, their peering and transit arrangements with their network partners. These factors have all been evaluated before selecting these networks, on which we have based our infrastructure.

Internet Domain Services also has agreements with two of the leading UK ICANN accredited domain name registrars, allowing us to offer generic and country code domains from over 244 countries. Once registered, these domains websites can then be hosted on our server infrastructure.

Listed below is some information and network maps provided by some of our third party network providers, giving an indication of the types of infrastructure on which our systems are based:

Our Servers...

Our servers are high performance Red Hat Linux and Microsoft Windows 2003, Dell PowerEdge and IBM dedicated servers, designed to give our customers the speed and reliability they demand, and full access to their websites and SHOUTcast services.

As standard, we provide a 99.9% network uptime guarantee per month, (excluding scheduled maintenance), 24/7 monitoring and unmetered bandwidth to all customers hosting their websites with Internet Domain Services.

Our geographically redundant Web Hosting and DNS servers are located in Amsterdam and British Columbia. Similarly, alternative systems are located in London and Glasgow. In the unlikely event of a system, network or infrastructure failure, services can be swiftly re-routed, and brought online if required.

For SHOUTcast customers, our servers are located in London and Paris, and enable us to provide extremely reliable, low cost hosting and streaming services, aimed at giving your Internet ventures and online radio stations the performance, security and competitive advantage needed in this fast expanding environment.

Network Data Centres...

Connections between the Network Data Centres and the Internet are always via redundant, full-duplex connections.

All facilities are monitored and manned by technical personnel 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week. In the event of an anomaly or error, an Internet Domain Services on-call Systems Administrator is alerted day or night.

Our servers use RAID, providing additional resilience against disk failures. Every night our entire system is backed up onto a separate physical storage system, so that in the event of a hardware failure, this image can be restored to new hardware with minimum downtime.

The Network Data Centre also has Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS) and diesel generator backup, protecting against the effects of power failures. High quality components are always used in order to minimise the risk of failure.

The Network Data Centre also has comprehensive physical security; advanced fire-suppression systems, smoke & moisture alarms, redundant air-conditioning systems, steel mesh reinforced walls & steel entry doors, motion sensors and security cameras.

Network Security...

From a security perspective, we keep up-to-date with the latest security upgrades and patches, whilst firewalls protect vulnerable points and block out known unsafe networks. Internet Domain Services System Administrators are fully versed in network design and management, Cisco routing and firewalling, as well as being Internet security qualified with CEH, (EC Council, Certified Ethical Hacker) status, therefore helping to ensure the security of our systems.
